UNSW's centrally-managed user names and passwords are called zID and zPass. They are maintained by UNSW's identity management infrastructure. CSE/CSG primarily uses Kerberos to access UNSW's Active Directory (AD) servers to perform authentication.

Most commonly, the zID consists of a lower-case 'z' followed by seven digits.
